  Common Indicators for Therapy
 

Experiencing any difficulty with:

  1. Walking, running, balance or coordination, strength, range of motion or abnormal muscle tone.
  2. Strength, range of motion or abnormal muscle tone.
  3. Visual perception
  4. Hand/Eye coordination
  5. Handwriting Skills
  6. Activities of daily living skills
  7. Auditory processing/Listening skills
  8. Speech and language development
  9. Feeding/sucking/swallowing difficulties
  10. Language/literacy issues

Is It Behavioral or Sensorimotor Dysfunction?

  1. Attention problems – distracted by sounds, sights, smells.
  2. Rigidity, inflexibility, difficulty with transactions, difficulty to regulate self, difficulty in calming after being upset, poor behavior organization.
  3. Unpredictable explosions of emotion.
  4. Impaired ability to interact with others.
  5. Impaired learning or academic struggles despite normal or above-average intelligence. Problems with handwriting, using scissors, tying shoes, using buttons or zippers.
  6. Difficulty maintaining an alert but relaxed state. Slow to “get going,” fatigues easily, or constantly “on the move.”
  7. Avoidance of touch. Dislikes wearing certain clothing items.
  8. Avoidance of daily hygiene, resistance to face-washing or teeth-brushing.
  9. Avoidance of certain smells. Limited food preferences in tastes and textures.
  10. Chewing on non-food items. Difficulty sucking or blowing.
  11. Avoidence of tasks. May appear bored or unmotivated if task is too difficult or directions not understood.
  12. Seeking intense movement, excessive thrill-seeking or risk-taking.
  13. Avoidance of movement. Motion Sickness.
  14. Delayed gross or fine motor skills, poor pencil grip, flat feet.
  15. Delayed speech/language.
  16. Coordination problems. Appears clumsy, stiff, or awkward. Motor planning problems. Accident prone.
Many people may exhibit a few of these “red flags.” We are concerned with the person who has multiple flags which prevent them from achieving their best. We have gained a wealth of experience by helping people with these problems gain proficiencies and success.
